What is new in Mobile BI 5.0 ASUG Webcast Part 1

Srikanth Rao, SAP Product Manager, provided this Mobile BI 5.0 ASUG webcast today.

 

The Mobile BI 5.0 App (for iOS) has been loaded to Apple Store and will be available by end of June.  “MobI” is the short-name for Mobile BI.  Mobile BI 5.0 Android is available now on Google Play.

Part 1 will cover the introduction through Mobile BI Platform enhancements.

 

Introduction

Srikanth explained that SAP wants to make it easy and straightforward for you to mobilize your existing investment.  It is easy to create Mobile category.  Mobile BI “extends the reach”.

Figure 1 shows MobI is the container for Explorer now.  BusinessObjects Explorer for Mobile is now included in Mobile BI 5.0.

The Mobile Server is mandatory to explore content

Offline support is provided for Information Space and exploration.

In the upper right of Figure 3 you can annotate on top of Explorer

You can set up a connection to the Lumira Cloud using Mobile BI 5.

Figure 5 shows that Mobile BI 5.0 supports both Jam & Streamwork.    You can decide either JAM or StreamWork

BI Inbox support is provided on your device as shown in Figure 6.  Note the platform dependencies.

Figure 7 shows the new usability design update to simplify experience, with an improved home screen.

Figure 8 shows sample documents and using the “Connect” button to log on to existing connection or create new connection

Figure 9 shows that the number of options has drastically reduced  from the previous version.

 

The Browse button on the left brings navigation panel

 

On the right is Search icon

 

You can sort the screen by author, date title

 

Using a toggle will show support list view

Figure 10 shows the secondary toolbar. 

 

By selection the Action widget, the secondary tool bar appears, allowing you to annotate, e-mail, etc.

Figure 12 shows the ability to record your voice for collaboration inside Mobile BI 5.0.
